Mumbai was rocked again a few days back. It was heart-wrenching to read about Mumbai blasts. Sitting here in the comforts of my office I cannot gauge the magnitude of the loss caused to the people who lost their loved ones. One thing I know, I was deeply moved by the tragic event. A sudden and untimely death of a family member can be the saddest thing to happen.
And then that wasn’t the only thing that shook me. The insensitivity of the media, impotence of administration and its tendency to make a volte face was even more appalling. Why do we vote and elect them after all? To declare the compensation to affected and never to give it without troubling them with a red-tapism of beauracracy? But, who is to be blamed; is it only the terrorists or the political elements that claim to protect the citizens of the nation. The extent of dishonest is such that we will never come to know the exact number of deaths or even fatally injured.
Isn’t there any way we can protect our coasts and borders from infiltrators and even the insensitive fools called as our government?
‘We the people’ have to take an effort to put a brave (any choice here?) face against this kind of International terrorism (though I doubt at times that it is state sponsored, at least the state chooses to look the other way) I wonder, even our intelligence sleuths are as ignorant as us. It is a disgraceful situation. We, the taxpayers, do our duty towards our nation but in turn we do not even get a peaceful night’s sleep. Why do we have to show the world that we are vulnerable when we are heading towards becoming an economic superpower?
Its time to stop playing the blame game and be more proactive. We proclaim loud and clear that we as a nation detest any kind of terrorist activity. It is so tragic that the government machinery has not even been able to punish the people responsible for the 1993 blasts and here we are facing a similar situation, never knowing when justice will prevail. How long can we praise a city for its resilience when there is no end to the suffering? Isn’t our economic capital in serious danger, time and again getting bruised and battered by calamities and explosions? Its time it becomes a national issue and is dealt with more purpose-to protect our economical sovereignty.
